During this summer I went to a place in India called Ahobala. Ahobala means a great cave. In ahobala the very special thing that happened there is that, the great lion god named narasimha (a incarnation of the ever powerful god vishnu in the form of a lion) apearred there after a demon attacked a pillar. The full story is that when the demon opposed the gods and started a war the Sage Narada took the demons wife to safety beacause she was going to have a baby very soon and the gods did not want to kill the baby because they that one day would be good ulike it's father. As Sage Narada preached about god daily the unborn son lisetened. Soon the war ended and the new born baby named prahlada went back to his fathers house. One day the demon asked prahalda who is the greates person. Prahalada replies the god is the greatest. The was infuriated at this statement and tried to kill Prahalada in various ways (poison, enraged elephants, fire, ect.)but god protected prahalada every time. Finally the demon asked "where is this god you think so highly of, I don't see him anywhere." "He is omniprestent," repiled Prahlada. "Is he in this pillar?" "yes." Then the demon smshed the pillar and out came god in the form of a lion from waist up and man from waist down. The reson for this is before the war the demon had done penance and had obtain a boon that saya e cannot be killed in day or night, outside or inside, and his killer cannot be a man or beast. Well Narasihma is not man or beast, he killed him on a threshold, and put him on his thigh and killed him while in was noon. So in Ahobala the broken pillar is still there, and a red river where lord Narasihma washed his claws after killing the demon is also there. If you go to Ahobala make sure you are prepared for a treacharous climb up a mountain.
